Jordon Greene hat mich gefragt, ob ich sein neues Buch lesen möchte - natürlich wollte ich!

„Watching for comets“ kommt im Dezember auf den Markt & ihr solltet euch das Buch auf jeden Fall merken. 🙏🏼

Es ist nicht nur ein LGBTQ Buch, es ist auch ein Buch über das Erwachsenwerden allgemein. Über Probleme mit der Familie, über Schuldgefühle und über Liebe. 

Unsere Protagonisten sind Tyler und Aiden.

Ihr gemeinsamer Freund Bryden ist bei einem Unfall gestorben.

Tyler hat seinen festen Freund verloren.

Aiden seinen besten Freund.

Beide haben mit ihren Emotionen zu kämpfen und immer wieder müssen sie ihre Erlebnisse verarbeiten. Und obwohl sie am Anfang nicht miteinander reden können entgeht zwischen ihren ein Band, nur wie stark es ist, müssen sie erst rausfinden.

Meine Meinung:

Wow. Wow. Und nochmal wow! Ich habe das Buch geliebt! Aiden und Tyler sind unglaublich nahbare Charakter, bei denen man merkt wie viel Liebe und Zeit der Autor in die Gedanken- und Gefühlswelt seiner jungen Protagonisten gesteckt hat. „Watching for Comets“ ist kein Liebesroman, wie man es vielleicht im ersten Moment erwartet. Er spricht viele Probleme, wie Inakzeptanz in der Famile, Konvetionstherapien oder auch Fetischisierung von schwulen jungen Männern an. Dabei erleben wir als Leser immer die Perspektive von Aiden oder Taylor mit und fiebern wie in einer guten Serie immer dem nächsten Kapitel entgegen. 

Durch das Wechseln der Perspektiven kann man sich unglaublich gut in die Protagonisten hineinversetzen. Man fiebert mit ihnen mit und will sie in ihrer Beziehung zueinander vorantreiben. Gleichzeitig versteht man auch gut, wieso sie nicht immer voran kommen. Wieso sie zögern und wieso sie zweifeln. Man erlebt mit, wie sie emotional über sich hinaus wachsen, aber sich auch selber in ihren Gedanken verfangen. Beide Jungs machen eine schwere Zeit durch. Das Buch überstürzt nichts und arbeitet viele innere Probleme der beiden Protagonisten auf. Dadurch ist die Geschichte sehr nachvollziehbar und realistisch.

 Eine unglaublich schöne, aber stellenweise auch tragische Liebesgeschichte, die es sich zu lesen lohnt und einen mit einem guten Gefühl zurück lässt.

Ein Buch was ich vorhabe mir nochmal als Printausgabe zu sichern, weil ich mir einige Passagen gerne markieren möchte.

It's not just a LGBTQ book, it's also a book about growing up in general. About problems with the family, about feelings of guilt and about love.

Our protagonists are Tyler and Aiden.

Their common friend Bryden died in an accident.

Tyler lost his boyfriend.

Aiden his best friend.

Both struggle with the loss and have to work through their pain again and again. And despite them having difficulties even talking to each other at the beginning, they will soon identify a bond neither of them can understand at first. And they have yet to figure out just how strongly that bond ties them together.

My opinion:

Wow. Wow. And again, wow! I loved the book! Aiden and Tyler are incredibly close characters in which you can see how much love and time the author has put into the world of thoughts and feelings of his young protagonists. Watching for comets is not just like any other romantic novel, as you might expect at the first moment. The author addresses many problems, such as acceptance in the family, conversion therapies, or even fetishization of gay young men. 

As readers, we always experience the perspective of Aiden or Tyler and always look forward to the next chapter like in a good series. Because of the changing perspectives, you can immerse yourself incredibly well in the protagonists. You share their excitement and you want to drive them forward in their relationship with each other. At the same time you can understand their reasons for not always moving forward. Why they hesitate and why they doubt. You can experience how they grow emotionally beyond themselves, but also get caught up in their thoughts. Both boys are going through a difficult time. 

The book doesn't rush anything and raises many inner problems of the two protagonists. As a result, the story is very comprehensible and realistic.

An incredibly beautiful, but at times also tragic love story that is worth reading and leaves you with a good feeling.
